Alternator Notes

Alternators have the model number, ampere rating, and date of manufacturing code stamped directly to the alternator casting, near the adjusting brace mount.  Reference by General Motors to a 37-amp alternator for 1974 through 1979 Corvettes is most certainly in error.

 Date Coding:  Date of manufacture code used for alternators contains a calendar year prefix consisting of a single digit (the last digit of the calendar year); followed by the month (see month chart below); ending with the date of the month ("1" through "31").
